New Delhi, May 3 (). Two people, including a graduate student from Delhi University (DU), were caught red-handed while trying to escape by snatching a mobile phone in Delhi’s Vikaspuri area. An official provided this information on Wednesday.
The accused have been identified as Lakshya Bharti (23) and Prashant alias Ashu (28), residents of Dasharathpuri, Delhi.
Police said they have recovered 12 looted mobile phones from the possession of both the accused.
According to the police, a police team on motorcycle patrolling duty near Vikaspuri on Monday saw a woman shouting chor-chor while pointing towards two men on a motorcycle.
Without any delay, the patrol party chased them and caught them,” said Akshat Kaushal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West). Meanwhile woman Sarita (50), resident of Vikaspuri also reached there and informed them that these two persons have snatched her mobile phone.
On searching the possession of the accused, a snatched mobile phone and two other stolen phones were recovered.
Kaushal said, during interrogation, the accused disclosed their involvement in several cases of mobile theft and snatching in the area. Nine more mobile phones were recovered at his instance.
Bharti was earlier found involved in six cases of snatching in West and South West Delhi.
The officer said, Prashant is a graduate from DU and is unemployed. He further revealed that he entered the world of crime to earn quick money to fulfill his hobby of luxury living and bad habits.
