PM Modi Discusses Economic Growth and Job Creation Through GST Reforms

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that the recent reforms to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) have significantly bolstered India’s economy and opened new paths for job creation, especially within the MSME and retail sectors. Speaking at the 17th Rozgar Mela virtually, Modi highlighted that empowering youth is a central aim of his government’s policies, encompassing economic strategies and international partnerships. He referred to the recent GST changes as “transformational,” stating that these reforms are not only enhancing savings but also fostering new employment and growth prospects. Reflecting on the recent festive season, he observed, “The nation experienced record sales during Dhanteras and Diwali, establishing new benchmarks.

This illustrates how GST reforms have revitalized India’s economy.” Modi pointed out the positive effects in MSMEs and retail, where new job opportunities are arising in manufacturing, logistics, and distribution. During the event, over 51,000 appointment letters for government roles were distributed, bringing the total number of jobs provided through Rozgar Melas to over 1.1 million. Modi reaffirmed that the youth of India is a vital asset for the country and that his administration is dedicated to enhancing employment prospects. He also noted that India’s collaboration with the United Kingdom in areas such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, and fintech will create international opportunities for Indian professionals.

According to him, these global partnerships will bolster exports and skill development among India’s workforce. Union ministers Jitendra Singh and Ajay Tamta distributed appointment letters in New Delhi as part of the Rozgar Mela initiative.
