New Delhi, May 20 (). The Delhi Police has arrested two people for allegedly issuing fake appointment letters to high profile officers of the central government. An official gave this information on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Khatri Iqbal Ahmed, a resident of Narmada district of Gujarat and Himanshu Pandey, a resident of Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, Chandan Kumar, Under Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) made the complaint along with a copy of the order purportedly issued by the MoHFW, which states that the tenure of NMC chairman Suresh Chandra Sharma will end in the month of January. I have finished and Dr. Suresh K. Patel (a member of the Gujarat Medical Council) has been appointed as the new chairman of the NMC and is likely to take over from April 3.
It was also alleged in the complaint that the file number mentioned in the said letter issued from this Ministry does not exist in this section and no such order has been issued by (MoHFW).
During investigation, based on technical surveillance and local intelligence, the police team zeroed in on the mastermind of the crime and arrested accused Khatri Iqbal from Vadodara in Gujarat and Himanshu Pandey from Lucknow. During interrogation, Khatri disclosed that he used to work with accused Himanshu.
Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said that Himanshu told the police that he was running a fake government job racket along with Khatri and other accomplices. In the year 2021, he was arrested by the District Crime Branch of Rajkot Police in a case of cheating and forgery regarding fake appointment letters for government jobs.
At the end of the year 2022, Himanshu got bail and after coming out of jail, he wanted to swindle a huge amount. Therefore, he along with his accomplices hatched a plan to appoint high profile persons to high positions and perpetrate a huge fraud on the members of various commissions, the Special CP said.
According to the police, Himanshu’s father is a college lecturer and elder brother is posted as Senior Scientist at American University in Los Angeles, USA.
The official said that Himanshu is also a law graduate and had come to Delhi to prepare for competitive exams. During this, a person named Raju, a resident of Kolkata, met him and told that he runs a fake job racket and convinced him to work with him.
