New Delhi, April 2 (). Two swindlers who duped people with bundles of fake currency have been arrested by the Anti-Burglary Cell of Delhi Police in Dwarka district.
Police said the two thugs arrested used to run a fake-gaddi gang. Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) M. Harsh Vardhan said the accused have been identified as Gyasi Kashyap (45) and Ramesh (48). Vardhan said that a car used in the crime and the duped amount of Rs 26,000 was recovered from their possession.
The DCP said Gyasi Kashyap was earlier involved in nine cases of cheating, murder and violation of the Arms Act, while Ramesh is facing trial in three cases.
The officer said that on March 28, the incident of cheating was reported at Dabri police station. The victim Pintu Kumar told the police that he had gone to the Bank of Baroda to deposit Rs 50,000, where he met both the accused.
Police said, the accused met the victim inside the bank branch and talked to him on the pretext of depositing Rs 2 lakh (fake notes) in his bank account. The accused told him that they work in Punjab and stole all the cash from their employer’s office due to non-payment of salary. If he deposits their money, they will give him half of their money.
The accused handed over a packet of fake notes of Rs 2 lakh to the victim and cleverly replaced it with a packet of Rs 50,000. When the victim came to know about this, he lodged a complaint with the police.
When the team reached the bank after registering the case, two persons were found involved in the crime. When their route was traced with the help of CCTV footage, it was found that both the criminals reached Dashrath Puri Metro station in a car.
Police said, we raided Rohini and arrested both. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the fraud. He told the police that his third associate Pantu was also with him, efforts are being made to nab him.
