The Cantonment Board in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, has issued a final directive to demolish a well-known four-story residence linked to Mohammad Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, the chairman of Al-Falah University. This building is commonly referred to as ‘Maulana’s Building’ in memory of Jawad’s father, Mohammad Hammad Siddiqui. Engineer Harishankar Kaloya from the Cantonment confirmed that a written demolition notice was served to the current occupant, indicating that the ownership details were not current. He explained that only the registered owner can apply for renovations and repairs under cantonment regulations. If the title has not been updated, the demolition notice is deemed unauthorized.
Although the Siddiqui family left the Kayastha neighborhood in the mid-2000s, the house, constructed in the late 1990s, remains a prominent landmark, recognized for its numerous windows and extensive basement. Legal issues resurfaced following the arrest of Jawad’s younger brother, Hamud Ahmed Siddiqui, in Hyderabad. At age 50, Hamud was wanted in connection with several fraud cases dating back to 2000 in Mhow, where he allegedly persuaded various investors, including retired military personnel, to invest in fictitious companies, promising high returns before absconding with their money.
