A 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck Narsingdi, Bangladesh, on Friday morning. The strong tremors were felt in Kolkata and various areas of West Bengal. Residents in Kolkata reported that the shaking was intense, with some experiencing it for approximately 30 seconds. Many noted that it was strong enough to rouse them from sleep. As a precaution, numerous residents evacuated their homes. Currently, no reports of damage or injuries have surfaced. The earthquake was recorded 13 km south-southwest of Narsingdi at 10:08 am, occurring at a depth of 10 km, as per the National Centre for Seismology. Tremors were additionally reported in Dhaka, Tripura, Meghalaya, and Mizoram.
Earlier that day, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake also hit Pakistan, occurring at a depth of 135 km.
