Kolkata, June 2 (). Expelled Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh on Friday accused the ED of deliberately trying to divert the probe into the multi-crore school recruitment case in West Bengal.
Ghosh, an accused in the case, made this statement while talking to reporters while appearing in the PMLA court in Kolkata.
Journalists had sought his reaction on the arrest of Sujay Krishna Bhadra alias Kalighatar Kaku by the ED. Ghosh said, ED officials are lying. They are deliberately trying to divert the investigation of the case in the wrong direction. If he has the guts, he should produce my statement in the court.
Bhadra’s name cropped up during his interrogation by Gopal Dalpati, a suspect in the case. Dalpati had said that Ghosh used to hand over a part of the scam’s earnings to Bhadra.
According to Dalpati’s version, Ghosh claimed that Bhadra was his main link with the top leadership of the state’s ruling party. This is not the first time Ghosh has leveled allegations against central agencies.
Earlier, he had accused the ED and the CBI of pressurizing Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee to be named in the case.
