New Delhi, May 18 (). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday questioned former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi in connection with the land-for-jobs scam involving her husband and former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and family members.
Rabri Devi was questioned at the ED headquarters here. A source said a team of senior ED officials has recorded his statement. He was asked 40 questions.
He was also questioned about the property belonging to former RJD MLA Syed Abu Dojana.
According to sources, Rabri Devi was asked about her Patna-based properties and Dojana’s properties.
A source said, four parcels of land acquired by Lalu Prasad’s family from Group-D applicants for only Rs 7.5 lakh were sold by Rabri Devi to Abu Dojana, in collusion with a huge profit of Rs 3.5 crore. We have questioned him in this matter.
The ED’s case is based on an FIR filed by the CBI.
The CBI registered a case against Lalu Prasad, who was then the railways minister at the Centre, his wife Rabri Devi, two daughters and 15 others, including unknown public servants and private persons.
An official said, during the period 2004-2009, Lalu Prasad received financial benefits by transferring land assets to his family members in lieu of appointing officiating Group D posts in various railway zones.
He said that many residents of Patna, either directly or through their family members, have sold or gifted their land to Lalu Prasad’s family members and a private company controlled by Prasad and his family.
No advertisement or public notice was issued for the appointment of substitute in the zonal railways, the official said. However, persons resident in Patna were appointed as officiating in various Zonal Railways located at Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hajipur.
Following this modus operandi, the CBI says, about 1,05,292 square feet of immovable property located in Patna was acquired by Lalu Prasad and his family members through five sale deeds and two gift deeds, in which most of the land transfers were made in cash to the vendors. paid.
