New Delhi, March 28 (). Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday sought cooperation of business women and corporates in inculcating a culture of road safety among road users in the country.
Gadkari said at an event organized by Young FICCI Ladies Organization (YFLO)- Apart from road engineering, the most important factor for improving road safety in the country is to change the human behavior of violating road rules. Unless human behavior changes, rules will not be followed. Government alone cannot do this, we need private participation.
Gadkari said- In India, there are five lakh accidents every year, resulting in 1.5 lakh deaths, of which 60 per cent are youth in the age group of 18-34 years. Women entrepreneurs can help in promoting road safety at the school level as well as inculcate the culture of road safety to their employees and their families and set up their logistics and operations to propagate the message of education on road safety and enforcement of rules. Use carriers, which are important for improving safety standards in India.
The minister said- I see knowledge as power. I also see waste as wealth. Appropriate technique is needed to see the end result. Need-based research should be of primary importance in order to be successful in whatever you do. One must think ahead, because green hydrogen is the fuel of the future. Petrol is becoming expensive and we need alternative fuel. I think of a dozen alternative fuels such as biodiesel, natural gas, ethanol, methane, propane, electricity and hydrogen that are currently under development or in production to power vehicles of the future and some are even available.
He said- women should also work towards improvement of ecology and environment. To improve the air quality in the national capital, the Ministry of Road Transport is developing the six-lane Urban Extension Road (UER) 2 which will be the third ring road of the capital. It is likely to be operational by the end of this year.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayanti Dalmiya, National President, FLO, said- With 19 chapters across India and 9,000 members, FLO is committed to empowering women entrepreneurs and professionals and equipping them with the skills and capabilities to become equal contributors to the Indian economy. represents through our mandate to
