Bareilly: Authorities in Bareilly have identified eight purportedly illegal properties associated with affiliates of Ittehad-e-Millat Council leader Tauqeer Raza Khan for potential demolition, officials reported on Tuesday. Teams from the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) and the district administration conducted a joint operation in Faiq Enclave, Jagatpur, and older city areas. The buildings are said to have been constructed without sanctioned plans, with some encroaching on government and ceiling land. Police have noted that Faiq Enclave has increasingly become a refuge for criminals over the years. Previously, a property linked to Saddam, the brother-in-law of gangster Atiq Ahmad, was sealed in this area. Recent investigations have revealed connections between Tauqeer’s associates, Farhat and coloniser Mohammad Arif, and similar illicit activities.

A BDA official stated that Arif and his associates have encroached upon public land, roadways, and ceiling zones. Establishments linked to Arif, including Skylark, Fahm Lawn, and Flora Garden, were sealed on Sunday due to accusations of illegal construction. “Illegal constructions on government and ceiling land will not be tolerated. We will enforce strict measures in accordance with regulations,” said BDA Vice-Chairman Dr. Manikandan A. Additionally, the Bareilly Municipal Corporation has marked several shops, including those built atop Pahalwan Sahab Dargah, for demolition due to illegal construction. The administration is also preparing to file a police report against Arif for encroaching on roads and land.
