The Election Commission of India firmly denied Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s assertion of significant vote deletions in Karnataka’s Aland, labeling it as “incorrect and baseless.” The commission refuted Gandhi’s claim that over six thousand votes had been removed from the Aland Assembly constituency, stating that “no deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as conceived by Rahul Gandhi.” They emphasized that no deletion can occur without offering the affected individual a chance to be heard. Regarding Gandhi’s allegations, the EC noted that there were unsuccessful attempts to delete votes in 2013, which led to an FIR for investigation.
Additionally, records indicate that the Aland AC was won by BJP’s Subhash Guttedar in 2018 and Congress’s B R Patil in 2023.
