Lucknow, 20 April (). Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that by 2030 all state government vehicles will be gradually replaced by EVs.
To meet this target, the departments have been told that the purchase of EVs can be done without tender, on the basis of nomination and if required, the expenditure can also exceed the maximum limit prescribed for the purchase of EVs.
An official spokesperson informed that the two provisions have been made because EVs are currently more expensive than diesel and petrol vehicles and therefore, additional expenditure on their purchase needs to be allowed.
This will be offset by savings on fuel in subsequent years, he added.
