E-commerce giant Flipkart has launched a new premium subscription service in India called “Flipkart Black.” This membership offers an array of benefits related to shopping, entertainment, and travel, serving as an upgrade from the company’s prior program, Flipkart VIP. A significant feature of Flipkart Black is a complimentary one-year subscription to YouTube Premium, which provides ad-free video streaming and access to YouTube Music. Additionally, members will have access to exclusive Flipkart Black Deals, featuring discounts on premium appliances, gadgets, and more. The service also enhances travel bookings through Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel, offering a Re 1 cancellation and rescheduling option. Members can earn 5% SuperCoins cashback (up to ₹100 per purchase) on all transactions.
Subscribers will benefit from early access to major Flipkart sales, alongside instant bank discounts of up to 15% during these events. Flipkart vows to provide priority customer support and tailored offers based on user preferences, although details on these personalized benefits are still forthcoming. In announcing the launch, Rahat Patel, Vice President at Flipkart, stated: “‘Flipkart Black’ aims to empower customers by placing them in control of their digital experiences and rewards. The initial set of benefits focuses on shopping, entertainment, and travel, with plans for future expansion to better serve our customers.” Flipkart Black is available for an annual fee of ₹1,499, but an introductory offer allows subscriptions at ₹990 until the end of the month.
This new service replaces Flipkart VIP, which previously cost ₹799 annually but lacked exclusive deals and YouTube Premium access. With Flipkart Black, the company aims to foster a more rewarding shopping and entertainment ecosystem to engage customers.
