In Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, four individuals were arrested for allegedly writing the Prophet’s name on the walls of four temples, an action that sparked communal unrest. The accused, identified as Jishant Kumar, Aakash, Dileep Kumar, and Abhishek Saraswat, reportedly aimed to implicate a Muslim man named Mustaqeem due to a personal dispute. Authorities stated that evidence, including CCTV footage, phone records, and apparent spelling errors in the inscriptions, facilitated the identification of the suspects. The police observed that the different spellings used for the Prophet’s name, such as ‘Mohmad’ and ‘Muhmad,’ suggested a lack of familiarity. A fifth suspect, Rahul, is currently at large. The spray can utilized in the incident has also been recovered by the police.
After the October 25 incident, additional law enforcement personnel were deployed to ensure community safety. An FIR has been filed under provisions addressing actions intended to provoke religious sentiments and criminal intimidation.
