Bhilwara: The last rites for four accident victims took a tragic turn when three men drowned while bathing in a river after the cremation rituals in Bhilwara district, Rajasthan, on Monday. According to police reports, the gathering at a cremation ground in Fuliya Kala village was for the last rites of four individuals from two families who died in a car accident in Jaipur on Saturday night. Following the completion of the rituals, seven men entered the Khari river for a bath when the tragedy occurred. Four were rescued and taken to a nearby health center, but three were pronounced dead, as confirmed by Shahpura DSP Om Prakash Bishnoi.
The deceased were identified as Mahendra Mali (25), Bardi Chand (34), and Mahesh Sharma (35). Meanwhile, Vijay Pratap Singh (30), Mukesh Goswami (25), Rakesh (28), and Jeevraj (30) were admitted to the primary health center in Fuliya Kala, with three later referred to the Shahpura district hospital due to serious conditions, the DSP added. Bhilwara MP Damodar Agarwal, Shahpura MLA Lalaram Bairwa, and District Collector Jasmit Singh Sandhu visited the hospital to check on the injured. An inquiry into the incident has been initiated, the officer stated. Seven individuals from two families lost their lives on Saturday when their car lost control and plunged into a waterlogged underpass in Jaipur.
