New Delhi, May 17 (). Former India cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against Hindi daily Punjab Kesari, seeking damages of Rs two crore. The matter is listed for hearing before Justice Chandra Dhari Singh on Wednesday.
Gambhir has accused the newspaper, its editor Aditya Chopra, and reporters Amit Kumar and Imran Khan of abusing journalistic freedom by publishing a series of malicious and derogatory articles targeted at him.
Gambhir filed the suit through his lawyer. In it, he cited several reports as evidence to support his claim that the newspaper deceptively distorted its stories.
Gambhir insisted that these reports mislead readers and tarnish his reputation.
The case said that the report falsely portrayed him as a person with casteist beliefs and an egotistical politician.
