Gangster Injured in Police Encounter While Planning Cow Slaughter

Amethi: A wanted gangster and repeat offender sustained injuries during an encounter with police while allegedly plotting cow slaughter, according to police reports on Monday. The incident occurred on Sunday night in the Jagdishpur area. Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Rajat Kaushik stated that Station House Officer (SHO) Dhirendra Kumar Yadav and his team were conducting routine checks when they received a tip-off regarding two individuals preparing for cow slaughter near a drain behind Gauhar Purwa village. Upon arriving at the location, the police discovered two men arranging items in the dark. When the police attempted to encircle them, both suspects opened fire, aiming to kill.

The police responded in self-defense, resulting in one suspect being shot in the right leg, while the other escaped, according to the SP. The injured individual identified himself as Javed (40), a resident of Pure Gauhar. Authorities recovered a country-made pistol, one live cartridge, one used cartridge of .315 bore, and various cow slaughter tools, including a plastic sack, a wooden stand, two ropes, a knife, and a cleaver from the scene. SP Kaushik noted that Javed is a history-sheeter charged under the Gangsters Act and the Goonda Act. He was transported to the Jagdishpur Community Health Centre for initial treatment.

The accused has been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy, and violations of the Arms Act at Jagdishpur police station and has been subsequently jailed, the SP added.
