New Delhi, May 2 (). A 31-year-old gangster and member of the notorious Kala Jathedi gang, wanted in seven criminal cases, has been arrested from Delhi’s Mungeshpur village. An official gave this information on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Ravinder alias Lappu, a resident of village Katewara, who was earlier associated with Neetu Daboda and Ashok Pradhan gangs.
According to the police, information was received that Ravinder has been frequently visiting Mungeshpur for the last few days.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Alok Kumar said, a team was deputed to gather more information about him and his movements were monitored. On April 29, input was received that Ravinder would be visiting one of his associates near the cremation ground in Mungeshpur between 3 to 4 pm.
The DCP said, at around 3.20 pm, Ravinder was seen coming towards the cremation ground. However, when the police team surrounded him, he took out his pistol and threatened to shoot.
But, the police team nabbed him. A pistol of .32 bore with four rounds of ammunition was recovered from his possession, the officer said.
Ravinder was committing heinous crimes in Delhi-NCR for the last eight years.
The DCP said, the accused has also disclosed that he has earlier worked with Neetu Daboda-Ashok Pradhan gang. The accused is a habitual offender and is involved in 10 criminal cases.
Ravinder has a long history of criminal activities, due to which he has been jailed several times.
According to official records, Ravinder was first arrested in 2009 on charges of attempt to murder in west Delhi. In 2014, he and his accomplices kidnapped and robbed a Swift car rider in Kanjhawala. In this case, the court has issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
In 2017, Ravinder and his aide Shekhu had fired at Pradeep Kumar of Ladrawan village in Delhi over personal enmity.
Shekhu is an active member of the Ashok Pradhan gang, the officer said. In the same year, a man was badly beaten up by Ravinder and his associates in the Narela Industrial Area.
Ravinder was arrested again in 2019 for demanding extortion from a Kanjhawala businessman. In the same year, he demanded extortion of Rs 15 lakh from a Narela businessman.
In 2021, Ravinder and his accomplices looted Rs 18 lakh from an unknown place in Kanjhawala.
Ravinder’s criminal activities have put him on the radar of law enforcement agencies, and his continued involvement in illegal activities has resulted in repeated arrests and warrants against him, the official said.
