Google is introducing a new feature in Gmail designed to enhance the organization and convenience of online shopping. A dedicated Purchases tab will soon be available, consolidating all shopping-related emails such as order confirmations and shipping notifications. By clicking on this new tab, users will have direct access to purchase-related emails, enabling them to view order details quickly without having to sift through their inbox. This enhancement builds on Gmail’s current package-tracking capabilities, which already prioritize shipments expected to arrive within 24 hours at the top of the inbox. Furthermore, Gmail provides tracking cards within emails, giving users immediate information about their current orders.
In conjunction with the Purchases tab, Google is also refreshing the Promotions tab, which will soon feature timely deals and a new filter to organize emails by ‘most relevant.’ This filter will highlight updates from brands that users frequently engage with, while still permitting a return to a ‘most recent’ view. These updates are anticipated to roll out in the coming weeks on mobile devices for users with personal Gmail accounts, improving both shopping and email functionalities.
