In a strategic effort to capture a larger share of India’s expanding smartphone market, Google has introduced its Authorised Refurbished Phone Sale programme. This initiative, in collaboration with the well-known tech resale platform Cashify, seeks to provide the premium Pixel experience to a broader audience. By presenting refurbished versions of its flagship devices, Google aims to attract new customers and enhance its market presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The program currently features two of Google’s most popular models: the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 8 Pro. The company assures that these devices will be refurbished exclusively using genuine Google spare parts, addressing a common concern among consumers purchasing used electronics.
“Google guarantees that all devices will be refurbished only with authentic Google spare parts, which is often a concern for used devices in the market,” a company statement noted. The pricing for these refurbished models is particularly attractive. The Pixel 8 Pro, which originally launched at Rs 1,06,999, is now available for Rs 48,999. Cashify Gold users can benefit from an additional Rs 600 discount, reducing the price even further. For those looking for a more budget-friendly option, the Pixel 7, initially priced at Rs 59,999, starts at Rs 23,899, with a discount for Cashify Gold members bringing it down to Rs 23,299. Each refurbished Pixel phone will come in a new box and include a compatible charger.
While it is not explicitly mentioned that the charger will be an original Google product, its inclusion is a welcome addition. All devices purchased through this programme are supported by a one-year warranty from Cashify, and users can access service or repairs at any of Cashify’s locations across India. Beyond the financial benefits, this programme aligns with Google’s broader commitment to sustainability. By extending the lifespan of these devices, the initiative helps to minimize electronic waste. Additionally, the refurbished Pixels will be shipped in 100% plastic-free packaging, contributing to a more environmentally friendly supply chain.
For a market where the newly launched Pixel 10 has a starting price of Rs 79,999, these refurbished options offer a significant entry point for consumers who have been hesitant about the Pixel line. This partnership with Cashify may be crucial in unlocking a new market segment for Google, making their acclaimed camera technology and AI features more accessible than ever.
