Google has unveiled the specific usage limits for its Gemini AI across different subscription tiers. Previously, access was described in vague terms, leaving users uncertain about their entitlements. An update on Google’s Help Center page titled “Gemini Apps limits & upgrades for Google AI subscribers” has now provided definitive numbers for prompts, images, and features per tier. Free users of Gemini 2.5 Pro are significantly restricted, allowed only five prompts daily, 100 image generations monthly, and five Deep Research reports each month. However, all users can access 20 Audio Overviews per day at no cost.
In contrast, paid subscribers of the Google AI Pro plan at $19.99 monthly enjoy greater flexibility, with the ability to send 100 prompts per day, create 1,000 images monthly, and conduct 20 Deep Research reports daily. They also have the advantage of generating three Veo 3 Fast videos, which are unavailable to free users. The premium Google AI Ultra plan, costing $249.99 per month, caters to power users, allowing 500 prompts daily, retaining the 1,000 images limit, and offering five Veo 3 video generations per day. Ultra subscribers additionally receive access to 200 Deep Research reports each month and 10 Deep Think prompts with a 192,000-token context window, making it ideal for complex tasks requiring extensive context.
Google has confirmed that integrated tools like Canvas, Gems, and Storybook will continue to operate within these limits, highlighting that the constraints are tied to the chosen subscription tier. While some figures had been anticipated by the AI community, this is the first time Google has officially detailed them, providing clarity for users to plan their AI usage and illustrating the significant differences between free and paid options. Adding to the intrigue, reports from Testingcatalog indicate that references to a “Gemini Beta 3.0 Pro” have been found in the Gemini CLI tool codebase, hinting at potential testing of a successor to Gemini 2.5 Pro by DeepMind.
Though the existence of Gemini 3.0 in the code does not assure an imminent rollout, its discovery coinciding with Google’s efforts to clarify user limits has drawn attention. Observers believe Google may be preparing for its next major AI announcement. For now, users have gained insight into their current Gemini capabilities while speculating on the possibility of a significant update soon.
