Google Pixel 11 May Feature MediaTek Modem for Better Performance

Google’s upcoming flagship, the Pixel 11 series, may see a significant change in hardware design. New leaks suggest that the company intends to replace Samsung’s Exynos modem with MediaTek’s M90 modem in the forthcoming Tensor G6 chipset. This change could potentially resolve persistent issues reported by Pixel users, particularly those regarding battery life and connectivity. The information comes from trusted source Mystic Leaks via Telegram, indicating that Google plans to move away from Samsung’s Exynos 5400 modem, which powers the current Pixel 10 range. The MediaTek M90 modem is anticipated to offer substantial enhancements, including download speeds of up to 12Gbps, support for dual 5G SIMs, and satellite connectivity—features that could significantly improve the Pixel experience.

Although Google has not officially verified these details, this shift would be a strategic decision. Pixel phones are often regarded as the flagship standard within the Android ecosystem, yet they have faced challenges with inconsistent connectivity and subpar battery performance compared to competitors like Samsung and Apple. The Pixel 10 series, released in August, marked Google’s transition of its Tensor G5 chipset production from Samsung to TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process, aimed at enhancing efficiency and performance. However, real-world performance results have been mixed. While there were improvements, benchmark scores indicated that the Pixel 10 Pro achieved 2,280 in single-core and 6,090 in multi-core tests, still falling behind the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which scored 2,855 and 9,461, respectively.

With the Tensor G6 chipset rumored to incorporate the new MediaTek modem, the Pixel 11 lineup could provide Google with the chance to bridge this performance gap and offer a more advanced flagship experience. Analysts suggest that this partnership might enable Google to gain better oversight over modem optimization and overall system efficiency. Although it’s premature to draw definitive conclusions, the Pixel 11 is anticipated to maintain a lineup akin to the current generation, comprising the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Each variant will likely include the new Tensor G6 chip and MediaTek modem integration, which could enhance both power management and network stability.

As for pricing, Google is expected to retain a structure similar to that of the Pixel 10 series. For reference, the Pixel 10 starts at Rs 79,999, the Pixel 10 Pro at Rs 1,09,999, the Pixel 10 Pro XL at Rs 1,24,999, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at Rs 1,72,999 in India. While Google has just released its Pixel 10 lineup, early speculation about the Pixel 11 series indicates that the company is already striving to enhance its hardware ecosystem. If the MediaTek collaboration materializes, the Pixel 11 could finally provide the reliability and performance that dedicated Pixel enthusiasts have been anticipating.
