Google is updating its extended warranty program by introducing Pixel Care Plus, which replaces Preferred Care. This new plan maintains similar pricing while adding significant benefits, such as complimentary screen and battery repairs. For users of the Pixel 9, the plan is priced at $8 monthly or $159 for a two-year term. Owners of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will pay more, with fees set at $18 per month or $339 for two years. Additionally, customers can opt for loss and theft protection for an extra fee, with deductibles varying by model.
A major enhancement of Pixel Care Plus is the provision of free repairs for cracked front screens and batteries functioning below 80 percent capacity, services that previously incurred charges. Under the previous Preferred Care, a cracked screen replacement was priced at $29, while now these repairs come at no cost for Pixel Care Plus subscribers. However, internal screen damage on foldable devices, such as the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, remains excluded from coverage. Fees for other accidental damages have also been lowered, ranging from $49 for older models like the Pixel 8a and 9a to $99 for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. For premium devices like the Pixel 9 Pro, repair fees are capped at $129.
With this update, Google aligns its warranty offerings more closely with competitors such as Samsung, which recently dropped screen replacement fees under its extended warranty plans.
