Chandigarh, May 7 (). But his critics are questioning Vij’s silence on the allegation of molestation by a junior coach on his cabinet colleague Sandeep Singh.

Vij, who has just returned from his tour of Australia, told the media in his hometown Ambala, I have been the Sports Minister and fully support the players. The matter is being taken up at the highest level, but if I need to speak to higher authorities at the Centre, I will do so so that the issue can be resolved amicably.

Most of the protesting wrestlers are from Haryana. They are protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where the United Kisan Morcha said that a large number of farmers are gathering to show solidarity.

He said that many farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh would visit the protest site.

The irony is that Vij, an outspoken BJP leader, has been supporting the wrestlers but has remained mum on the allegations against his cabinet colleague.

The coach, in her complaint dated December 31, 2022, accused the then Sports Minister Sandeep Singh of sexually harassing, stalking, threatening and sexually assaulting her. Singh resigned from the sports portfolio, but remained a minister in the cabinet of the Khattar government.

Two days back, Minister of State for Printing and Stationery Sandeep Singh had refused to give his consent for a lie detector or polygraph test in an alleged molestation case.
