Dehradun: Uttarakhand endured another day of rainfall on Tuesday, with various regions affected by significant showers. The weather department has issued warnings for intense to very intense rain in several districts including Dehradun, Champawat, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar, where persistent rainfall has occurred over the last few days. Many rivers in the state, such as the Ganga and its tributaries like the Mandakini and Alaknanda, are at elevated levels, with several exceeding the danger threshold. Consequently, schools from class 1 to 12 and anganwadi centres were closed in numerous districts, including Dehradun. Additionally, the Chardham yatra has been suspended until September 5 due to forecasts of similar weather conditions persisting in the state in the coming days.

In the past 24 hours, Nainital district reported the highest rainfall, with Haldwani receiving 116.6 mm, Chorgalia 118 mm, and Nainital 114 mm. Other notable measurements included Mukteshwar at 98.4 mm, Khatima in Udham Singh Nagar district at 92.5 mm, Betalghat 85 mm, Munsiyari 82.4 mm, and Pithoragarh 74.1 mm, according to the Meteorological department.
