In response to allegations of rape under the guise of marriage against a Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services officer in Una, the state women’s commission has instructed the district Superintendent of Police (SP) to carry out an unbiased investigation. The commission’s chairperson, Vidya Devi, stated that the offender would face consequences. An FIR was lodged against the officer following a woman’s complaint, in which she claimed he coerced her into engaging in sexual relations after proposing marriage. The police reported that, based on her complaint, a case was initiated for sexual intercourse under false pretenses of marriage and for criminal intimidation. The woman alleged that her interactions with the officer began on social media, leading to multiple invitations to his office.
Approximately six weeks ago, during a visit to his office, he purportedly took her to his private room and proposed marriage. When she resisted his advances, he allegedly forced himself on her. Ten days later, the officer reportedly reserved a room in a rest house under another person’s name, where he attempted to engage in intimate relations again. According to the complainant, when she threatened to report him, he started blackmailing her with a video recorded in his office and gradually decreased his communication with her.
