Through Samarth, Hyundai is providing a robust platform to enhance accessibility and dignity for every athlete, transforming lives and perspectives nationwide. HMIL’s commitment to para-athletics goes beyond this event.
The company has been leveraging the power of sports to foster positive societal change. It has initiated the ‘Samarth Para-Sports Programme,’ a comprehensive effort to discover and train India’s future Paralympic stars. Currently, HMIL supports 26 para-athletes through strategic partnerships with various NGOs. The programme has achieved significant outcomes, with seven Samarth-supported athletes qualifying for the Paris Paralympics 2024, two of whom have secured medals for the country. Since the programme’s inception, athletes supported by Samarth have collectively earned over 60 international and 40 national medals, demonstrating the initiative’s growing influence on India’s para-sports landscape. At the upcoming World Para Athletics Championships 2025, five athletes from the 73-member Indian contingent are beneficiaries of the Samarth programme.
It is a proud achievement for Hyundai to see athletes nurtured through the Samarth initiative now representing the national team, poised to compete at the highest level. The list of Samarth-supported athletes participating in the World Para Athletics Championships 2025 includes: Yogesh Kathuniya – Discuss Throw, Sakshi Kasana – Discuss Throw, Shreyansh Trivedi – 100 m, and Banti – High Jump. The World Para Athletics Championships 2025 signifies India’s increasing stature on the international sports scene and its commitment to inclusivity in athletics. This event not only represents a proud moment for the country but also inspires young para-athletes to believe in their dreams. It further showcases India’s capacity to efficiently host a global sporting event of this magnitude.
As India prepares to welcome the world’s elite para-athletes, HMIL takes pride in being involved in one of the largest para-sporting events, playing a crucial role in empowering athletes and creating new avenues for sporting excellence.
