Yogi Adityanath Highlights India's Rise as a Global Power

Gorakhpur, November 1: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that India, once grappling with an identity crisis, is now positioning itself as a prominent global power through effective and visionary leadership. He emphasized that strong leadership can reshape global perceptions of a nation and noted that India has experienced this for the past 11 years. Speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony organized by Samsung Innovation Campus at Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium, he awarded certificates to around 1,300 students from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University and other technical institutes, personally handing certificates to eight students. Reflecting on the period before 2014, he mentioned that India was undergoing an identity crisis characterized by corruption and a tarnished global reputation.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for helping India establish a robust global identity through various developmental and welfare initiatives. Programs such as Startup India, Stand-Up India, and Digital India have propelled the nation to become the world’s fourth-largest economy. CM Yogi stressed that this transformation was the result of consistent, coordinated efforts at every level. He encouraged the youth to concentrate on innovation and emerging technologies that enhance living standards, stating that technology should simplify and enrich lives. He highlighted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s focus on technology and skill development, asserting that effective implementation could lead to significant change.

In alignment with NEP’s vision, the Uttar Pradesh government, in collaboration with Tata Technologies, has initiated a program to connect students from over 150 ITIs with modern vocational training. Addressing students like a teacher, CM Yogi urged them to adopt a problem-solving approach rather than criticizing the system, pointing out that many people blame the system instead of addressing their own shortcomings. He illustrated this by discussing traffic congestion, noting that individuals often contribute to the very problems they complain about. He also expressed concern regarding public negligence in adhering to basic safety measures, such as wearing helmets and seat belts.

On environmental issues, he remarked on the serious ecological crisis facing the world, citing Delhi’s pollution and irresponsible waste disposal practices. He reminisced about the traditional community practices where cleanliness and waste management were collective responsibilities, advocating for self-reliance rather than dependence on government support. CM Yogi highlighted the Samsung Innovation Campus as a means for fostering self-reliance, stating that the Uttar Pradesh government has established a Rs 1,000 crore fund to promote youth independence. He called on industries and institutions to collaborate in providing internship opportunities, emphasizing the importance of practical knowledge alongside theoretical learning. He noted that while the elderly population is increasing globally, India remains the youngest nation, with Uttar Pradesh having the largest youth demographic.

By receiving contemporary training, youth can become self-sufficient and bolster the economy. To support this initiative, the state is quickly rolling out the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, intending to provide tablets and smartphones to 2 crore youth. CM Yogi mentioned that Samsung has selected Uttar Pradesh as a brand ambassador for production, having set up its largest plant in Noida. He stated that India is currently the largest global user of mobile phones and the internet, with 55% of mobile phones made in India and 60% of electronic devices produced in Uttar Pradesh. This underscores the extensive opportunities available for youth in the state.

He encouraged students trained under the Samsung Innovation Campus to remember that a nation’s emphasis on innovation and research and development will lead to its emergence as a global superpower. He urged trained youth to engage with the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s Internship Programmes and to pursue entrepreneurship. CM Yogi expressed gratitude to Samsung for training 10,000 youth across India, including 5,000 from Uttar Pradesh and 2,000 from Gorakhpur and surrounding areas. During the event, four students shared their experiences with the Chief Minister. Samsung Southwest Asia President and CEO JB Park praised the rapid development in Uttar Pradesh under CM Yogi’s leadership, indicating that the state is becoming a global innovation hub.

He noted Samsung’s establishment of a world-class manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh. Park acknowledged that India is not only one of the fastest-growing economies but also home to the largest number of young minds. Through the Samsung Innovation Campus, 5,000 youth will receive training this year, and UP’s youth are becoming catalysts for positive change, with Samsung committed to investing in the youth and communities in the state. Vinod Sharma, Chairman of the Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI), remarked on the impressive achievements of the Samsung Innovation Campus program in empowering youth under CM Yogi’s guidance. He asserted that the trained youth will lead India into a new digital future. Prof.

Poonam Tandon, Vice-Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, welcomed the Chief Minister and noted that under his vision, Uttar Pradesh’s youth are progressing from skills to innovation and employment, shaping their futures through digital training and contributing to national development. Several dignitaries and youth involved with the Samsung Innovation Campus were also present at the event.
