Team India, after securing victories in their first two matches of the ongoing Women’s World Cup, has faced three consecutive losses in the tournament and is currently in contention for a semifinal berth. With Australia, South Africa, and England already clinching spots in the top four, India and New Zealand are the main candidates for the final slot as they prepare to meet in a crucial match. A win against the White Ferns on Thursday will guarantee India a place in the semifinals, whereas a defeat would complicate their chances, leaving them dependent on other match outcomes.

Should India lose to the Sophie Devine-led team, they will need to win against Bangladesh in their final group stage match on Sunday and hope New Zealand loses their last game against England. In such a scenario, both India and New Zealand would end up with six points, making their qualification hinge on their Net Run Rate (NRR). Currently, Harmanpreet Kaur’s team is tied with New Zealand at four points but holds an advantage due to a superior NRR.
