ABU DHABI: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Thursday that trade negotiations between India and the US are advancing positively. He mentioned that Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia Brendan Lynch visited New Delhi on September 16 for a full day of discussions with the Indian delegation. “Talks are moving positively… it’s moving in the right direction… India and the US are natural partners… Talks are making good progress and in the right direction,” he told reporters. Goyal emphasized that negotiations continue and there is no trade friction. “Negotiations are ongoing, and we view it as a situation. It’s not a friction. America is our trusted partner,” he added.
The commerce ministry noted that the discussions with the visiting US team regarding a bilateral trade deal were constructive, with both parties agreeing to strive for a prompt and mutually advantageous conclusion of the agreement.
