New Delhi: India’s creative economy is rapidly transforming, with gaming emerging as a significant growth sector. At the Creative Economy Forum-2025, hosted at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in New Delhi, industry leaders emphasized how Indian talent, technology, and storytelling are creating new global possibilities. Jigar Sheth, Chief Revenue Officer of Gurugram-based NODWIN Gaming, remarked that India’s gaming and esports industry is poised for a major breakthrough. He noted a recent surge of homegrown game studios producing titles that merge cutting-edge technology with uniquely Indian narratives. The next five to six years will be crucial, he stated, as original games from Indian developers earn international acclaim.
This momentum is also enabling a fresh wave of artists, designers, and programmers to forge sustainable careers within the gaming landscape. Sheth highlighted India’s distinctive market edge—its vast, digitally connected population. With millions of active gamers, the nation offers fertile opportunities for various monetization strategies. He explained that microtransactions have become one of the most effective means for developers to engage users while generating consistent revenue. “This model rewards player loyalty and allows creators to reinvest in innovation, fueling a positive cycle that enhances the entire industry,” he added. Community involvement, according to Sheth, is central to NODWIN Gaming’s philosophy. Every initiative, whether through esports tournaments or entertainment projects, is crafted with players in mind.
“No gaming initiative can succeed without community support,” he stressed, crediting NODWIN’s achievements to its profound understanding of gamer aspirations and ongoing audience engagement throughout India and South Asia. Reflecting on the narratives Indian developers can share with global audiences, Sheth highlighted the creative possibilities within India’s mythologies and folklore. From ancient epics to regional stories, these narratives can inspire games that resonate emotionally and culturally with players worldwide. “Interactive storytelling offers a new avenue to share India’s rich heritage with the globe,” he concluded. Looking forward, Sheth remains optimistic about India’s gaming trajectory, viewing it as a convergence of creativity, technology, and community.
