Apple launched the iPhone 17 series on September 9, 2025. The lineup consists of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the new iPhone Air, which is the slimmest model to date. Preorders are currently available, with sales commencing on September 19, 2025. In terms of features, the iPhone Air takes the place of the previous ‘Plus’ variant, boasting a slim profile of 5.6mm and a weight of 165g. It has a smaller battery and a single 48MP rear camera. The iPhone 17 features a 48MP ultrawide camera and a standard ProMotion 120Hz display.
Both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have a redesigned rectangular camera layout featuring a 48MP telephoto sensor, powered by the A19 Pro processor with vapor chamber cooling for demanding tasks. The display sizes are 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max. The iPhone Air is equipped with an A19 Pro chip, but with one less GPU core, and features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display without vapor chamber cooling. In terms of battery life, the iPhone 17 offers 30 hours of video playback, the iPhone 17 Pro provides 31 hours, the iPhone 17 Pro Max lasts 37 hours, and the iPhone Air delivers 27 hours with an optional MagSafe battery pack.
All models operate on iOS 26, featuring a ‘Liquid Glass’ interface, with AI capabilities available on the iPhone 15 Pro series and newer devices. Pricing in India is as follows: iPhone 17 at Rs 82,900, iPhone 17 Pro at Rs 1,34,900, iPhone 17 Pro Max at Rs 1,49,900, and iPhone Air at Rs 1,19,900. The iPhone 17 series offers enhanced displays, quicker processors, and upgraded cameras, while the iPhone Air presents a lightweight alternative with slightly diminished performance and battery longevity.
