Apple’s highly anticipated foldable iPhone is emerging as one of the most awaited tech releases of 2026. With Samsung and Google already established in the foldable smartphone market, Apple seems poised for a significant entry—new leaks indicate an ambitious battery capacity. A recent report from Korean insider Yeux1122 reveals that Apple is evaluating a notably larger battery for its forthcoming foldable model. The iPhone Fold, anticipated for a September 2026 launch, might feature an impressive battery ranging from 5,400mAh to 5,800mAh. If true, this would mark the largest battery ever in an iPhone. Presently, the biggest battery in Apple’s offerings is in the iPhone 17 Pro Max, equipped with a 5,088mAh battery in its eSIM-only variant.
A potential leap to nearly 5,800mAh in the foldable version would not only surpass its current flagship but also outpace competitors. For context, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a 4,400mAh battery, while Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold comes with a 5,015mAh unit. This aligns with previous insights from renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who noted that Apple intends to utilize high-density battery cells to enhance efficiency and power delivery. However, since this latest information originates from supply-chain sources, it should be interpreted as preliminary data that may change closer to the release date. In addition to the battery, other reported features suggest a device rich in capabilities.
The foldable iPhone is expected to have a 7.8-inch main display when opened and a 5.5-inch outer display for regular usage. Apple might also introduce a four-camera system and reintroduce Touch ID, now integrated into the side button. Notably, there are indications that the device will forgo a physical SIM tray, aligning with Apple’s transition to a fully eSIM ecosystem. Connectivity enhancements may involve Apple’s second-generation C2 modem, with design elements focusing on durability and practical use—areas where current foldables often encounter user issues. Regarding the launch schedule, the foldable iPhone is reportedly set for a fall 2026 release, likely coinciding with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The standard iPhone 18 models are anticipated for early 2027, alongside additional variants like the iPhone 18e and possibly the iPhone Air 2 around the same timeframe. Pricing estimates suggest the iPhone Fold could range between $2000 and $2500 (about ₹1,75,000 to ₹2,20,000), positioning it near Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which starts at ₹1,74,999 in India. If Apple manages to deliver exceptional battery performance coupled with a refined foldable experience, the iPhone Fold could emerge as a leading premium device in 2026.
