iQOO is set to introduce its latest flagship smartphone, the iQOO 15, on October 20 in Shenzhen, China. The Vivo sub-brand has confirmed the launch date and provided a preview of the upcoming device, showcasing high-end hardware, a modern design, and an updated software experience. In a culturally inspired decision, iQOO will skip the number 14, as it is deemed unlucky in Chinese culture, transitioning directly from the iQOO 13 to the iQOO 15. This naming convention aligns with OnePlus, which will also bypass the number 14 in its upcoming OnePlus 15 model.
The iQOO 15 will be powered by Qualcomm’s newly introduced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, making it one of the first smartphones to feature this flagship chipset. Additionally, iQOO has confirmed that a Q3 gaming chipset will be included to enhance gaming performance and manage heat effectively, appealing to mobile gamers and performance enthusiasts. Design plays a significant role in the iQOO 15, which will come with a colour-changing back panel in one of its variants that alters its appearance based on light and angle, setting it apart from conventional smartphone designs. Other color options will include white, green, and black.
The camera module will feature LED lighting, adding both aesthetic appeal and functionality, such as notifications or camera indicators. The device will sport a 6.85-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, ensuring sharp visuals and smooth scrolling. Durability is enhanced with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, among the highest standards in the industry, along with support for wireless charging. While specific details regarding the camera configuration have not been disclosed, it has been confirmed that the iQOO 15 will have a triple-camera system, expected to provide flagship-level photography capabilities. In another significant update, Vivo’s new Android 16-based OriginOS 6 will launch globally on October 15, replacing the previous Funtouch OS.
The iQOO 15 will be the first device to come with OriginOS 6 pre-installed. A beta version of OriginOS 6 is also anticipated to launch in India, indicating a transition in Vivo and iQOO’s software ecosystem. Although the iQOO 15 will initially debut in China, reports indicate that international availability, including in India, may follow by December 2025. Pricing estimates suggest the iQOO 15 could be around ₹60,000 in India, although official pricing details have yet to be confirmed. With its advanced processor, striking design, and next-generation software, the iQOO 15 is becoming one of the most awaited Android flagship devices of the year.
