Lucknow, March 29 (). A minor from Azamgarh ran away from home and reached Lucknow to meet Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav. He says that the security personnel stopped him from meeting Akhilesh.
It is being told that the boy has run away from his house several times to meet Akhilesh. The boy has been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and his family has been informed.
Childline coordinator Vivek Sharma said it was not difficult to trace the boy as he had run away from home several times to meet Akhilesh Yadav. He has done this about seven times. The boy ran away from his home for the first time when he was just 10 years old. He has gone to far flung cities like Delhi and Mumbai to meet Akhilesh.
When the boy went missing on March 26, his parents approached Childline and told the authorities the reason behind his eloping from home.
Soon after the call was received at 8.30 pm, four Childline workers were deployed in the vicinity of Akhilesh Yadav’s residence on Vikramaditya Marg.
Personnel were also deployed at Bandariya Bagh, Dilkusha Marg and Hazratganj to trace the boy.
We could not trace him on the first night, Sharma said. However, a street vendor on Vikramaditya Marg told us that he had seen a similar boy in the area. The next day, our workers again went out in search of him, and a chaat stall owner told them that he had seen the boy again on the road.
Eventually, childline workers spotted the boy on the road outside the SP office on Vikramaditya Marg. He was wearing SP’s cap and a stole was wrapped around his neck.
On questioning, the boy disclosed that he tried to enter Akhilesh Yadav’s residence but was stopped by his security guards.
The CWC has ordered that the boy be kept at the Government Children’s Shelter Home on Mohan Road till his parents come from Azamgarh to take him back home.
Counseling of the boy is also being done.
