Jaisalmer. During the digging of a borewell in the Mohangarh area of the district, a stream of water suddenly burst out. The stream of water started rising and falling several feet above the ground. Water started flowing like a river in the field and the entire field got filled with water at the spot. Due to the sudden release of a large amount of water, a big pit was formed at the spot. The machine weighing about 22 tons which was digging the borewell sank along with the truck. Seeing this, the villagers who were digging at the spot left the machine and ran away.
Water started coming out with pressure due to digging of borewell.
According to the information, a borewell was being dug in the field of farmer Vikram Singh in Teen Jora Minor village of Chak 27 BD near Mohangarh at around 10 am. After digging about 850 feet, water suddenly started coming out with high pressure. The stream of water started rising from a great height from the ground and falling. Due to the pressure of water, a big pit was formed at the spot.
During this time, the machine digging the borewell sank into the pit along with the truck.
Seeing this, the workers working on the borewell machine and the villagers ran away from the spot. People informed the police and the administration along with the groundwater department about this. As soon as the information was received, the officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation. However, it is not clear yet where and how such a large amount of water came from.
Farm owner Vikram Singh told what happened?
Vikram Singh told that he had sown cumin in his field a month ago. There are already 2 borewells in his field, but they have salty water. 7 days ago, he started digging another borewell for fresh water. After digging about 850 feet, fresh water came in it today, but suddenly the flow of water increased and the pit became bigger. Due to this, the machine got submerged in water along with the truck. Due to excess water, the cumin crop in the field has also been destroyed.

What reason has groundwater scientist Dr Narayan Das Inkhia in Jaisalmer given for the phenomenon of water flowing out in a strong current?
There is no sign of gas leakage here. This is an artesian condition of ground water. Near of the Jaiaslmer we find water under sandstone and hard soil, which is buried in the stone and soil. As soon as we break these layers and reach there, the water rises up with pressure. The water level in this belt is quite high, so as soon as the lower layers were broken in this tubewell, the water came up with pressure. Such incidents are common in Jaisalmer and the Nearest area. As soon as the water maintains its level here, then it will stop automatically.

The Sub-Tehsildar said something different.
Talks are being held with the officials of the oil and gas company ONGC so that when their team comes to the spot from Jaisalmer, some solution can be found. At present, there is a smell of gas at the spot. The truck is stuck in the pit and mud, water and gas are coming out of the pit.
