EAM Jaishankar expresses condolences for Saudi bus tragedy

Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar conveyed his profound shock regarding the bus accident in Saudi Arabia that involved Indian nationals. He mentioned that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah are extending comprehensive support to the families of those affected. Jaishankar also expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the rapid recovery of the injured. The tragic event occurred around 1:30 am local time on Monday, as pilgrims were returning to Medina after their visit to Mecca. The collision ignited a fire within the bus, which spread rapidly, ensnaring all passengers who were asleep at that moment. Reports suggest that 42 individuals, including 20 women and 11 children, perished in the fire.

The majority of the victims are thought to be from Hyderabad.
