JD(S) candidate joins hands with Congress to defeat Jarkiholi in Karnataka's Gokak

Belagavi, (Karnataka) April 25 (). Chandan Giddanwar, the JD(S) candidate from Gokak seat in Karnataka’s Belagavi district, has withdrawn his nomination papers without the knowledge of the party.

He has joined hands with the Congress against former minister and BJP strongman Ramesh Jarkiholi for the May 10 assembly elections.

After the incident, JD(S) has decided to expel the candidate from the party. Now there is a direct contest between Congress and BJP.

The minority vote, which was likely to split between the Congress and the JD(S), may now go to the grand old party. Jarkiholi will now have to fight hard to polarize the Hindu votes. Dr. Mahantesh Kadadi is INC candidate.

Giddanwar has already declared his support to the Congress. High voltage contest is being seen in Gokak seat. Shivkumar is trying his best to beat Jarkiholi in his own stronghold. Here the Lingayat community dominates.

Meanwhile, JD(S) candidate from Mangaluru (Ullal) constituency, Altaf Kumpala, has withdrawn his nomination papers without the knowledge of the party.

The Mangaluru seat has a direct fight between the Congress (former minister U.T. Khadar) and the SDPI (Riyaz Farangipet).
