Reliance Jio has launched a significant partnership with Google to enhance access to artificial intelligence tools for millions in India. This collaboration offers select Jio 5G users complimentary access to Google’s premium AI Pro Plan, valued at ₹35,100 per user. This initiative stands as one of the most extensive AI consumer rollouts in India thus far. Initially, the offer targets users aged 18 to 25 who subscribe to Jio’s unlimited 5G packages, and it will gradually expand nationwide to include all eligible customers in the upcoming months. Once chosen, users can activate their 18-month Google AI Pro subscription via the MyJio app, where their eligibility will be confirmed automatically.
The Google AI Pro Plan provides access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google’s newest multimodal AI model, alongside innovative tools like Nano Banana and Veo 3.1 for AI-driven image and video generation. It also includes Notebook LM, an AI assistant geared towards students and researchers, as well as 2 TB of Google Cloud storage—a complete set of resources for creativity and productivity. According to Reliance Industries and Google, this partnership aims to democratize artificial intelligence access in India.
Mukesh D Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, stated, “Through our collaboration with strategic and long-term partners like Google, we aim to make India not just AI-enabled but AI-empowered — where every citizen and enterprise can harness intelligent tools to create, innovate and grow.” He highlighted that Reliance Intelligence, Jio’s AI division, envisions making “intelligence services accessible to 1.45 billion Indians.” Furthermore, this initiative extends beyond individual users, as Reliance’s enterprise division, Reliance Intelligence, will serve as Google Cloud’s go-to-market partner for its Gemini Enterprise AI platform, facilitating Indian businesses in implementing intelligent systems to enhance operational efficiency. The partnership also encompasses infrastructure, with both companies collaborating to introduce Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) to India.
These specialized AI hardware accelerators are essential for training and executing large-scale AI models, potentially strengthening the country’s burgeoning AI research and startup ecosystem. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, expressed his excitement about this new phase in the companies’ enduring relationship, stating, “Together we’ve brought affordable internet access and smartphones to millions. Now, we are bringing this collaboration into the AI era.” This partnership continues Jio’s legacy of transforming India’s digital landscape, from revolutionizing mobile data affordability to enhancing internet accessibility. By placing AI at the forefront, Jio and Google are taking a significant stride towards shaping India’s AI-driven future, providing advanced technology tools at no cost to young innovators, students, and enterprises nationwide.
