Actor Jitendra Kumar will star in a new film alongside veteran actor and director Pooja Bhatt, exploring the rich world of kabootar-baazi, India’s ancient tradition of pigeon flying that flourishes in historic neighborhoods and on rooftops. The film, which remains untitled, is produced by Khyati Madaan under Not Out Entertainment, with Hitesh Kewalya, known for his work on Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, serving as co-producer. Bilal Hasan, recognized for his award-winning short film Chupchaap, will make his feature directorial debut with this project.
Jitendra Kumar, celebrated for his performances in Panchayat, Kota Factory, Jaadugar, and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, will portray a passionate kabootarbaaz whose life revolves around themes of flight, freedom, and tradition, adding depth to his diverse filmography. Pooja Bhatt, a National Award winner, will play Jitendra’s on-screen mother, marking her return to emotionally intense roles reminiscent of her impactful performances in Zakhm, Tamanna, and Daddy. Set against the vibrant backdrop of kabootar-baazi, the film delves into the lives, passions, and artistry of a subculture that, while fading, remains resilient. Although it is steeped in Indian traditions, the narrative resonates universally, addressing themes of connection, legacy, and aspirations. Filming is slated to commence next year.
Not Out Entertainment is also developing Abhootpurva, a romantic horror comedy set in 1990s Agra featuring Ritwik Bhowmik and a talented ensemble cast. Additionally, the company plans to produce a horror film inspired by a real national tragedy, starring Ahan Shetty. With this upcoming drama centered around kabootar-baazi, Not Out Entertainment continues to establish itself as a producer of emotionally resonant and culturally rich stories for mainstream audiences.
