Chennai, April 6 (). Justice Devaraju Nagarjuna was sworn in as an additional judge of the Madras High Court on Thursday. Acting Chief Justice T. Raja administered him the oath. Prior to this, he was a judge in the Telangana High Court.
With the swearing-in of Justice Nagarjuna, the strength of judges in the Madras High Court has gone up to 60 against the sanctioned strength of 75.
Advocate General R. Shanmugasundaram, while introducing him, said that Justice Nagarjuna was born on August 15, 1962, exactly the same day as the centenary of the establishment of the Madras High Court.
He was appointed as Registrar (Administration) in Telangana High Court in October 2015 and served as Registrar (Appointment) and Registrar (Judicial) till September 2021.
After this, he became the Registrar General of Telangana High Court from 18 October 2021 and was promoted as a judge in Telangana High Court on 24 March 2022.
Madras Bar Association President V.R. Kamal Nathan, Madras High Court Advocates’ Association President S. Mohanakrishnan and President of Women Lawyers Association Luizal Ramesh also spoke on the occasion.
