Kantara Chapter 1 reportedly surpassed the Rs 65 crore mark, according to recent updates. Early estimates from Sacnilk indicate that the film earned approximately Rs 60 crore on its opening day. Additionally, the Hindi version has contributed a solid Rs 19–21 crore to the total. Rishab Shetty’s film has outperformed several major releases from 2022, including Saiyaara (Rs 22 crore), Sikandar (Rs 26 crore), and Chhaava (Rs 31 crore). The opening day collections of Kantara are now nearing those of Rajinikanth’s Coolie, which earned Rs 65 crore. Actor Prabhas expressed his admiration for the film on Instagram, calling it a brilliant work with outstanding performances and congratulating Rishab Shetty, Vijay Kiragandur, and Hombale Films.
In a recent interview, Shetty reflected on the loss of crew member Rakesh Poojary during filming, emphasizing that while it was a significant loss, it should not be tied to the film itself. He noted that out of the three individuals lost, two were junior artists, and one experienced health issues before arriving on set, ultimately passing away from a heart attack before reaching the hospital. He confirmed that no accidents occurred during filming.
