Bengaluru, May 16 (). After the humiliating defeat in the Karnataka assembly elections, the BJP has decided to remove the state president Nalin Kumar Kateel. Sources gave this information.
Kateel was supported by the party throughout his tenure and even former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and senior leaders had to kneel before him. The party did not give Yeddyurappa and his son BY Vijayendra any chance to come down heavily on the murderer.
Sources said that the assembly election results have turned their back and the high command is completely upset with them for not being able to assess the situation.
Though the BJP was showing strength initially, it is facing an existential crisis in the state. Sources said the Congress has aggressively cornered the Lingayat, Dalit and OBC vote banks and is preparing the ground for the Lok Sabha polls.
The results showed that Vokkaliga Sivakumar is with Sivakumar. Minorities and Dalits side with Siddaramaiah, and have shifted to the Congress with the party’s outreach to the Lingayat community.
BJP is in search of momentum. As a first step towards rejuvenation, the BJP has decided to appoint a new face who can appeal to the masses.
Union minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday said that the high command will decide on the leader of the opposition and also appoint a new state president of the party.
He said that Kateel’s term has come to an end. Due to the elections, the high command did not remove him. He said that now a new candidate will be appointed.
Joshi said that the leader of the opposition will be decided in the Legislature Party meeting. Before this, a national leader of the party will also come here.
