Bengaluru, April 15 (). The Karnataka Congress on Saturday released the third list of 43 candidates for the state assembly elections. Former Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who joined the Congress from the BJP, has been allotted the ticket from Athani constituency in Belagavi district.
Laxman Savadi’s name topped the party’s third list. Interestingly, the party has not announced the ticket for the Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency, for which former chief minister and senior BJP leader Jagadish Shettar is in a tussle with the saffron party.
Sources reveal that Congress leaders have already approached Shettar and assured him of a ticket and a post if he joins the Congress.
The party took G.B. Malatesh has been fielded from Shikaripura constituency, from where former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa’s son BY Vijayendra is contesting.
Umashree, a Siddaramaiah loyalist, has been denied a ticket from Terdal constituency, from where Siddappa Ramappa has been fielded in Konnur. Filmmaker Umapati Srinivasa Gowda has been successful in getting a ticket from the Bommanahalli constituency in Bengaluru.
From JD(S) to Congress, K.M. Shivalinga Gowda has been allotted ticket from Arasikere constituency. The party has fielded Banavasi Rangaswamy from the Hassan seat. Locals say that there is going to be a direct fight between BJP and JD(S) in Hassan.
The Congress has announced 124 candidates in the first list and 43 in the second list. The names for 16 seats are yet to be announced.
