Chennai, April 24 (). AIADMK general secretary K. Palaniswami on Monday announced that the party’s candidate from Pulikeshi Nagar constituency has withdrawn his candidature for the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka.

AIADMK candidate D. Anbarasan withdrew following a request from the BJP national leadership in New Delhi, he said in a statement.
Sources in the AIADMK told that senior BJP leaders had called Palaniswami directly and requested him to withdraw the name of the AIADMK candidate pitted against the BJP in a constituency with a good presence of Tamil voters.
