Bengaluru, May 4 (). With less than a week left for the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka, political parties in the state are making last-ditch efforts to woo voters before campaigning ends on Monday.
In the final phase of the election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in 20 programmes, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate in 25 programmes. Shah is also expected to hold several meetings of party leaders across the state.
Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah will hold 28 public rallies and D.K. Shivakumar will participate in 19 events. JD(S)’s HD Kumaraswamy will appear in 50 to 60 programs across the state.
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are set to participate in 10-15 rallies, public relations and roadshow campaigns.
BJP has planned a mega roadshow by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress is organizing a massive roadshow to counter PM Modi’s outreach.
Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who is yet to visit Channapetna and Ramanagara from where his son is contesting, will make up for it by organizing mega events.
Starting Friday, Prime Minister Modi will be camping in the state for the next three days for the last phase of campaigning.
He will address public meetings one after the other in Ballari in north Karnataka, Tumakuru in the south on Friday. He will hold four public rallies on Sunday at Badami, Haveri in North Karnataka, Shivamogga in South districts and Nanjangud (Mysore).
The Prime Minister will do a mega roadshow on Saturday. The roadshow will pass through 18 assembly constituencies with the participation of more than 10 lakh people. The road show Namma Karnataka Yatra will cover a distance of 36.6 kilometers between 11 am to 10 pm with a break.
To counter PM Modi’s mega campaign, Congress has planned a massive roadshow by Rahul Gandhi on May 7. The details are being worked out to match the scale of PM Modi’s roadshow.
