Jalandhar, May 2 (). The Mahila Kisan Union, a constituent of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, on Tuesday announced a boycott of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP during the by-elections in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency, as both the parties have failed to protect the interests of farmers and labourers.
The union said that both the parties have cheated the farmers at every step and did not implement them even after accepting the demands of the farmers. That’s why both the political parties should be taught a lesson by giving a crushing defeat in this election.
Mahila Kisan Union President Rajwinder Kaur Raju said that the world is aware of the repressive policies of the BJP and its leaders during the farmers’ protests against the implementation of black farm laws. Even after accepting the written demands of the farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to implement them and provide no relief to the families of nearly 750 farmers who died during the year-long agitation.
The entire farming community and agricultural laborers are opposing the pro-corporate parties.
Hitting out at the ruling party in Punjab, the woman farmer leader said that this fledgling organization is using the name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, but it is far away from the ideology of Shaheed-e-Azam.
He said that despite giving assurances in dozens of meetings with farmer organizations during the last one year, various ministers including the Chief Minister have not fulfilled any major demand till date.
The farmer leader announced that Mahila Kisan Union would boycott AAP and BJP during the bypolls and appealed to all voters to vote for any other party so that both these parties could be taught a lesson.
