Pipar City / Jodhpur. All the lawyers went on an indefinite strike for the past several days in protest against the assault on a member of the Rajasthan High Court Advocate Association at the Asop police station and the misbehavior with another lawyer by the Chopasni Housing Board police. In such a situation, the work of the court has gone haywire.
No lawyer turned up for the hearing in the courts. In such a situation, today’s hearing has been postponed by giving a date for the coming days. All the lawyers gathered at the Heritage Building, the old premises of the Rajasthan High Court, and raised slogans against the police.
Pipad City Advocate Association President Vijay Raj Chauhan said that all the lawyers in Jodhpur are on strike demanding the passage of the Advocates Protection Bill. He said that until the demands are accepted, the lawyers will remain on strike. Vijay Chauhan told that lawyers are being beaten up on a daily basis.
Advocate Ramnarayan Chowdhary was thrashed and assaulted by the police station officer and other policemen in the premises of police station Asop and misbehaved by the policemen. In protest against this, the lawyers have gone on an indefinite strike.
The strike has been supported by the lawyers of all the subordinate courts including the Rajasthan High Court.
In Jodhpur, all the lawyers are on strike demanding the passage of the Advocates Protection Bill, the lawyers of all the subordinate courts, including the Rajasthan High Court, have supported it.
