Mahagathbandhan to Announce Seat-Sharing Plan and Manifesto for Bihar 2025

The opposition alliance, Mahagathbandhan, is set to disclose its seat-sharing strategy later this week, having finalized key details in the coming days. According to sources from PTI, discussions among senior leaders of the RJD and Congress are currently underway, with meetings scheduled for Monday. RJD leaders Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav are presently in Delhi. Reports indicate that Congress may secure fewer seats than in the 2015 Bihar elections, reflecting its recent performance. In the last elections, Congress contested 70 seats but managed to win only 19. Ramesh mentioned that discussions with Congress leaders are expected to occur on Monday, although no specific date was provided.

Regarding the delay, he noted that adjustments are necessary to accommodate new members in the Mahagathbandhan strategy, which will impact seat distribution. He stated, “We expect to finalize all seats in about two or three days and then announce them.” When asked how many seats Congress might contest, Ramesh jokingly replied, “Anything between half a century and 100 years.” Meanwhile, the NDA has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement. The Bihar political alliance has announced that the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) will contest 101 seats each.

Rashtriya Lok Morcha, led by Upendra Kushwaha, and Hindustan Awam Morcha, led by Jitan Ram Manjhi, will each contest six seats, while Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has been allocated 29 seats. This year’s Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases: November 6 and November 11, with counting scheduled for November 14. The first phase will cover 121 constituencies, and the second phase will include 122 constituencies.
