Patna: Manish Kashyap, a YouTuber who ran for the Bihar assembly from Chanpatia on a Jan Suraaj Party ticket, shared an emotional message on social media following his failure to win a seat in the 2025 elections. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a significant victory with 202 seats, while Prashant Kishor’s JSP did not secure any. Kashyap, previously regarded as a potential disruptor capable of influencing the Bhumihar vote, ended up in a distant third place. Congress candidate Abhishek Ranjan won the constituency with 87,538 votes, narrowly surpassing BJP’s Umakant Singh, who received 86,936 votes. Kashyap garnered 37,172 votes.
After the results were announced, Kashyap posted a picture of his mother on X, stating: “Mother, today… I have nothing left except you.” Reflecting on his political journey, he expressed that he sometimes wished he had focused on changing his family’s situation instead of trying to alter Bihar. He mentioned the struggles he had faced, including “22 lawsuits and several jail terms,” and noted that some individuals were now mocking him, questioning his election outcome. “How do I explain to them that I received the blessings of 37,172 people – not due to caste or party loyalty, but for who I am?” he wrote.
Kashyap shared that the defeat impacted him more profoundly than his prison experiences, stating, “I risked everything and received only loss and taunts,” but he vowed to persist in his political endeavors. “I promise I will keep trying until I win.”
